Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum
ICCS and IEECP participated in the Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum – Energy Efficiency Finance Market Place in Brussels on the 18-19th of February 2020. This is the biggest event of its kind in Europe, showcasing successful projects on financing climate adaptation, energy efficiency, clean mobility and innovative energy planning, as well as initiatives working across Europe to facilitate the market for climate and sustainable energy finance.
ICCS and IEECP presented SocialWatt, its objectives, and planned activities, along with insights on the status quo of energy poverty in Europe, the SocialWatt tools being developed and examples of innovative schemes being considered.
The presentation followed discussion regarding solutions towards the alleviation of Energy Poverty. Emphasis was given also in the development of SocialWatt tools appropriate for utilities and energy suppliers to effectively identify and engage vulnerable customers. The tools will also enable the obligated parties under Article 7 to develop, adopt, test and spread innovative energy poverty schemes. In that way, energy efficiency interventions at the household level will be facilitated and the increased use of renewable energy will be fostered, by promoting innovative financing options.
The Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum – Energy Efficiency Finance Market Place was jointly organised by the European Commission's Directorates-General for Energy Directorate-General for Climate Action and the Executive Agency for Small and Medium sized Enterprises (EASME).
